Teen Horror Series Proposal: Dracula's Son's

NAME: Dracula’s Sons
Genre: Horror/ Drama/ Supernatural/ Romance/Action

What is it about?
A young girl named April from Atlanta moves to a small town in America called Malville (The name Malville was chosen because Mal translates to evil in Spanish, which is what runs through the town.) to start her first year at college. As she got the placement for the college late there are no dorms available so she signed up to rent a room in the famous Darke Brothers House. The Darke brothers (Alec and Draco) are famously known for renting this room every semester but every person who rents that room out does not make it to the end of the semester. Because April is new and does not believe in the rumors that she has heard throughout the college she decided to go ahead and rent the room anyway.

The reason behind this is because the two brothers are vampires, one who does not go to the College but does night shifts at the town’s hospital, as he is much older. The other brother does attend College and is currently dating a witch who made him a dawn ring so he was able to go out during the day. Within the series we are able to see a relationship develop between the evil brother Draco and the young girl despite the fact that he is in a committed relationship this then leads to havoc especially when his witch girlfriend Simone finds out. The other brother Alec is a lot less quieter yet almost sinister, at the first impression the audience believe that he is quite a shy and ‘nerdy’ character however he is not, he has many secrets to hide which are portrayed in different ways at the end of each episode. The most prominent one is that the hospital he works at has an increasing number of deaths which is why patients do not wish to attend it so often and this is because of Alec’s obsession, not with the drinking of their blood necessarily but with torture.

Themes
Within the series we are able to see elements of Family, Friendship, Love, Jealousy, Death, Betrayal and Fear.

Why have I chosen to do this?
I chose vampires as it clearly relates to my audience (which is teenagers between the ages of 15-19). Shows like Vampire Diaries and movies like Twilight seem to convey that teenagers are more inclined to watch shows about young adult vampires as it will keep them intrigued with the storyline and stay up to date with the show. What however makes my show different to The Vampire Diaries is that I do not follow the point of view of one main character but instead try to focus on all different types of characters. I also do not want to follow the typical route of “Romance” to be the main storyline. Instead I want to add an element of action for example in ‘The Walking dead’ to grasp a wider audience as you are able to see the killing, the quest for freedom etc.
I am trying to achieve this by making the humans that live in Malville fight against the vampires and also along the series creating a strong feud against them.
